HIGH TEMPERATURE CPC COLLECTORS WITH CHINESE VACUUM TUBE RECEIVERS
At the new University of California in Merced, CA and SolFocus at Mountain View, CA we are developing high temperature CPC collectors under the auspices of the California Energy Commission. By combining external CPC reflectors with Chinese vacuum tube receivers, high temperatures are achieved. These receivers are specially designed and made for efficient operation at 200 degrees Celsius. The emphasis of the system design is low cost, high reliability and excellent manufacturability. It is expected that these collectors will become a useful heat source for applications ranging from process heat, to absorption air conditioning, to organic Rankine cycle engines for electric power.
