STUDY OF THE GRID-CONNECTED PV SYSTEM USING IMPROVING POWER QUALITY
Grid connected PV inverters which have semiconductor cir-cuits directly connected to the mains cannot be designed in such a way that guarantees that a DC current will not flow into the network.Even small DC voltages can result in trou-blesome DC currents in the network as it has very low imp-edance to DC. For this reason, a large and heavy 50Hz isol-ating transformer is typically employed at the inverter outp-ut to eliminate the possibility of DC currents being injected onto the grid. By removing the need for an isolate-on trans-former(which forms a substantial cost of a grid connected P-V system)the market for grid connected inverter systems w-ould be strengthened, leading to more widespread applicati-on.This paper, therefore, considers an alternative solution u-sing current sensing and control techniques to eliminate DC without the need for a transformer.
