EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF PROPER TILT ANGLES FOR STAND-ALONE, IRRIGATION PV PUMPING AND GRID CONNECTED APPLICATION IN TEHRAN
Nowadays, PV energy is used in different applications such as stand-alone, PV pumping and grid connected systems. In stand-alone PV plants, the PV modules should supply the demand load in the worst condition, which is usually in winter. In PV pumping for irrigation purpose, the PV energy is required in certain months of the year, particularly during summer. In grid-connection plants, the total energy through the whole year should be maximized. In this paper the actual performances of 10 solar modules, installed between 0 to 45o tilt angels, in the province of Tehran are presented. The modules data have been stored by a data acquisition system, which corresponds to the module performances from the year 2001 to 2004. The proper tilt angles for the above mentioned applications are determined. The presented results help the PV system planners to design their plants for the optimum tilt angle, and achieve the maximum energy.
