THREE-DIMENSIONAL SIMULATING THE THERMAL BEHAVIOR AND AIRFLOW PHENOMENA OF A SCCF DURING WINTER PERIOD

The SCCF (Solar air Collector with Colored Facade) is a new ameliorated type of solar air collector which equipped a venetian blind as the absorber. The venetian blind has two facades painted with two different colors in order to receive the solar incident radiation energy using the dark side during winter period while reflect the radiation using the light side in the summer. Compared with traditional flat-plate solar air collectors, the flow and heat transfer process in the SCCF is more sophisticated due to the substitution of a venetian blind for the flat absorber. In addition, the slat tilt angle is variable. There are some non-negligible impacts on heat collection, convective heat transfer between slats and air, airflow within the channel because of various slat angles. For description of the heat transfer and flow behavior, a three-dimensional model reduced by using a porous model is done using the CFD approach. Based on validation of simulated result by using experimental data, a numerical simulation is carried out to obtain the distribution of the temperature and velocity field and optimize the configuration.
