RESEARCH AND APPLICATION OF DEVICES FOR SYNCHRONOUSLY TRACKING THE SUN
This paper introduces a concept of apparent motion orbit of the sun, and put forward the theory of synchronous (linear) tracking the sun. Using solarium mechanism to trail the running path of solar hour angel, and using modified sine function framework to trace solar apparent declination path, and then connect these two mechanisms with linear transmission chain. More than 45%~122% electricity can be output by the synchronous tracking photovoltaic (PV) devices compare with those fixed PV ones with the same area between the spring equinox to the summer solstice. The 17m2 heat collector of synchronous tracking, its static wind-driven power consumption is less than 3.5W (0.2W/m2), and the gale consumption is less than 7W(0.34W/㎡). The apparatus can be utilized widely in solar power, heating, lighting systems and other solar energy utilization.
