DEVELOPMENT OF SS-AlN CERMET SOLAR COLLECTOR TUBES

This paper reviews the research and initial development of stainless steel-aluminium nitride (SS-AlN) cermet solar selective coatings. Recent development for mass- production of SS-AlN cermet solar collector tubes in Himin Company is also presented. On the basis of the research and initial development results, the Himin Solar Company has mass-produced the solar collector tube incorporating sputtered SS-AlN cermet solar coatings since the end of year 2001. A solar absorptance of 0.94-0.96 and hemispherical emittance of 0.05-0.07 at 80oC were routinely achieved for the mass-produced SS-AlN cermet solar collector tube. Recently we have successfully developed in-line sputter coater for the mass-production of the SS-AlN cermet solar collector tubes.
