GOLDEN SUN CERTIFICATION: THE NATIONAL CERTIFICATION SCHEME FOR SOLAR WATER HEATERS
The commercial market for a variety of applications of solar water heaters (SWH) technologies based on flat plate, evacuated tube, etc. technologies is well developed in China. It is estimated that, in 2006, annual sales of collectors were estimated to be 18 million m2,with the cumulative installed collector area of solar water heaters at 90 million m2. However, the solar water heating market in China is constrained by the widespread dissemination of poor quality products, lack of quality control in manufacturing, and poor after-sale service of installed systems. Therefore, there is a need to consolidate and develop a national standards and certification scheme in China. In 2006, CGC finished the establishment of national certification program for SWH, and named it as Golden Sun certification.
