MAXIMUM POWER CONTROL UNDER THE FRAMEWORK OF COORDINATION CONTROL FOR OFF-GRID WIND POWER GENERATION SYSTEMS
The characteristic of off-grid wind generation system under the framework of coordination control, in which fixed pitch wind turbine with folding tail vane directly drives permanent magnet synchronous generator, is analyzed in this paper. A scheme, which has a buck converter between generator and load, is proposed for adjusting power output without mechanical sensors such as wind velocity and rotation speed sensors. A control strategy in which the rotation speed of generator is indirectly controlled according to optimum power set is also presented to achieve maximum power energy output at nominal wind speed or below and to limit the rotation speed of generator by means of folding the tail vane of wind turbine above nominal wind speed. Simulation results, which are based on MATLAB/Simulink, indicate the system obtains maximum output power in the range of working wind speed.
