EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON BIOMASS GASIFICATION IN HEAT PIPE BIOMASS GASIFIER

A novel kind of indirectly heated gasifier, heat pipe biomass gasifier, was developed, in which a sodium heat pipe was used to provide heat for biomass gasification. Two aspects of the gasifier characteristic have been investigated. One is the thermal characteristic of sodium heat pipe and the other is the gasification characteristic of four different biomass fuels. The results of the gasifier characteristic tests show that the axial and radial bed temperature distributions in gasifier are uniform and change similarly with the start-up temperature of sodium heat pipe. Also both the gasification temperature and biomass fuels effect on the gas components of product gas.
