A TOPSIS Method for Multiple Attribute Decision Making under Uncertain Linguistic Environment

The aim of this paper is to investigate the multiattribute decision making problems, in which the information about the attribute values take the form of uncertain linguistic variables, and the information about attribute weights is completely unknown. The concept of distance between two uncertain linguistic variables is defined, and ideal solution of uncertain linguistic decision making matrix is also defined. A formula of possibility degree for the comparison between uncertain linguistic variables is given. Based on the distance and ideal solution of uncertain linguistic variables, we establish an optimization model. By solving this model, we get a simple and exact formula to determine the weights. We utilize the ULWA operator to aggregate the given uncertain linguistic decision information corresponding to each alternative. A method based on possibility degree is given to rank the alternatives. Finally, an illustrative example is also given.
