Using E-R Conceptual Model Assists Ontology Conceptual Modeling

The study of domain ontology construct has been developed further since 19811, methods used in the domain ontology construct mainly divides into two classes: one is based on the domain theme dictionary or concept dictionary, While another is based on conceptual modeling. This article will introduce a methodology for supporting domain-specific ontology establishing using Entity-Relationship conceptual model. The methodology is implemented successfully in a prototype system.Combining Entity-Relationship conceptual model in PowerDesigner and the Ontology knowledge models, we save much time during the modeling and editing process of domain ontology construct.
