E-Learning Environment Construction by the Exploratory Use of Metadata
In this paper, the convergence of the constructivist learning theory and the Internet technology is made for constructing an e-learning environment named TeachwareOnDemand 1,5. In the TeachwareOnDemand,metadata is subsequently regarded as data, feature vector,transformation, declarative and procedural knowledge,content and contextual information, and index of the fragment. These multiple perspectives of metadata enable a flexible use of metadata in learning environment construction. Through the analysis of TeachwareOnDemand metadata (schema), TeachwareOnDemand datafiow diagram is briefly introduced. Particularly, metadata schema heterogeneity is solved with a metadata schema correspondence. It is found that the features of the TeachwareOnDemand fit the constructivist learning theory.
