Countermeasures to P2P Download Bottleneck Problems Merging Technology and Management
The P2P application has been the main workflow in recent years and a great deal of P2P users has been formed in the broad band network. Then, P2P applications have a side-effect because they cost too much bandwidth and possess too much network flux, which has made much trouble for the other applications such as mail, news, search engine as well as electronic commerce. P2P applications have been the bottleneck problem for the operator of broad band network. In this paper, merging technology and management, we propose a comprehensive scheme to the problem above. This scheme can not only reduce the visiting times on the public network when the data pieces are downloaded, but also increase the visiting times for individual peers in the local subnet so as to relax the burden of the public network brought by P2P download through encouraging local network access more. In addition, the incentive mechanism are designed in the scheme to increase the service time for the downloading peer so as to decrease the public network download time and public network bandwidth flux. The data calculated in the given example shows the scheme is available to relax the contradiction of overusing the network bandwidth for the download service.
