An Investigation on Influences of Acculturation Strategies on Crisis Management Behavior of MNCs in China
Recently, it is noted that prestigious MNCs like P&G, Unilever, Nestle, Toshiba, KFC and McDonalds have fallen into traps of frequent occurring crises one after another; their crisis management (CM) behavior, however, reflects their ignorance and maladjusted adaptation to Chinese culture. Exploring into their CM behavior and revealing cultural factor by cross-cultural theories is conducive to the understanding and improvement of MNC business behavior in Chinese context.In analysis of cases, expected CM behavior of Nostalgic acculturation strategies and adapted acculturation strategies are supposed in 5 major relations that CM has to deal with. The general hypothesis is improves by comparison of expected CM behavior are with real CM practices. From examining results of the influenced CM with either of nostalgic acculturation strategies or adapted acculturation strategies, specific influences of acculturation strategies on CM results can also be testified.
