Quantitative Analysis of Greenhouse Gas from Organic Refuse in Landfill
Landfill site is one of the most important sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas emitted from the landfill sites are important component of the total greenhouse gas emissions in the world. So it is primarily important to predict the production of methane and carbon dioxide in order to control greenhouse gases emitted from landfill Based on the mechanism of anaerobic degradation process of organic refuse, a detailed calculating method was proposed to work out the quantity of greenhouse gas emitted from landfill. The result shows that,0.3184, 0.1192, 0.2182 and 0.2297 kilograms of methane, and 0.3795, 0.2264, 0.5191 and 0.5439 kilograms of carbon dioxide are generated from the waste meat, plant, paper and wood (per kilogram refuse by wet weight)respectively during the anaerobic degradation process in landfill. The conclusion accords closely with the experimental result from available information. Based on the conclusion, quantity of greenhouse emission from landfill can be predicted if organic component of refuse is measured.
