SHAKING TABLE TEST INVESTIGATION ON A FULL-SCALE HIGH-STRENGTH COLD-FORMED THIN-WALLED STEEL RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
Buildings with lightgage steel joist structure systems are widely used in Australia and the United States. However, these kinds of systems are still in the primary developing phase in China. Several domestic researchers have conducted some static cyclic tests of individual shear panels however no dynamic test of whole building structure has been conducted presently. In this paper, a full-scale two-floor residential building model with high-strength cold-formed steel joist structure system, which is developed by BlueScope Steel (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., was tested on the shaking table in China Academy of Building Research. The failure features, dynamic properties and seismic responses of the model are observed and analysed. Based on the shaking table test, reasonable and valuable results are obtained; some suggestions for seismic design of these lightgage steel joist structure systems are presented for practice reference.
