INFLUENCE ANALYSIS OF STEEL STRENGTH ON COMPOSITE BEAM-TO-COLUMN CONNECTION IN STEEL FRAME STRUCTURE

Along with the progressive demanding of the seismic performance for the highrising frame buildings, high strength materials are used in the frame members, and the composite load-bearing is emphasized. In the composite connection with highstrength steel, the effect of the concrete slab on the bearing capacity becomes more obvious, and just neglecting the composite action will cause accumulation of the unsafety in structural design. The composite effect will bring high stress between the bottom flange of the beam and the column flange plate, and cause a brittle break more easily. Based on the finite element analysis, this paper discusses the extent of the concrete influence and the breaking mode of the connection, and focuses on the change when the steel turns high-strength. From the calculation results, to a certain extent, the ultimate strength will increase with the steel strength, and the ductility has some decrease. If the grade of the concrete can match the steel strength, the advantage of the composite action can be fully brought into play, thus the bearing capacity of the connection can be improved.
