Modeling flow transition in hypersonic boundary layer

A new transition/turbulence model considering the modes of instability and the compress-ibility effects is established. Based on the Menters SST model, it adds the contribution of nonturbulentfluctuations into the effective viscosity. The present model is validated by comparing the results ofsubsonic at plate, supersonic straight cone and hypersonic ared cones at zero angle of attack withavailable experiments. In general, good agreement is indicated.
