Direct numerical simulations of turbulent channel flows with moving wall

The influence of spanwise moving wall on turbulent channel flows is investigated using direct numericalsimulations. The DNS was performed using the standard spectral method. Three cases with the spanwise wallvelocity W=0, m U and 2 m U are simulated at constant flow rate. The results show that spanwise moving wallinduce the skin friction increasing. The second-order turbulence statistics such as root-mean-square velocityfluctuations, Reynolds shear stress and root-mean-square vorticity fluctuations are substantial increase with spanwisevelocity increasing. It is also observed that the root-mean-square velocity fluctuations become more even across thechannel with spanwise velocity increasing.
