Numerical simulation of circular disk entering water by an axisymmetrical sph model in cylindrical coordinates

An axisymmetrical SPH (smoothed particle hydrodynamics) model in cylindrical coordi- nates is proposed to study hydrodynamic problems associated with a circular disk entering water. The procedure of the water entry and the relative depth of the disk at the time of cavity closure are studied. The SPH model in cylindrical coordinates is validated by a comparison between the computational results and the experiment data available. The detailed information of the free surface evolution during the period of water entry is provided.
