Study on the flow structures and pollutant dispersion of a moving car

Large eddy simulation (LES) of flow structures and pollutant dispersion of an on-road passenger car was performed. The effects of ambient wind conditions (I.e. wind speed and direction) on the flow structure and pollutant dispersion have been studied. The results show that turbulent plays an important role in the removal of pollutants. The change of wind direction may alter the concentration distribution of the pollutant. A larger amount of pollutant is diluted by the high wind speed than by a low ambient wind speed.
