Analysis on turbulent flow in the impeller of chemical pump

To study the phenomena of two-phase ow with salt crystallizing in the chemical pump, the3-D turbulent ow in the impeller of chemical pump was simulated under the condition of rinsing. Theinternal ow between the impellers of 1H65 chemical pump was investigated. Based on the Reynolds-averaging N-S equations and the standard k- two equations turbulent model, the simulations ofturbulent ow between the impellers are performed by using the ow computing software Fluentunder different operating conditions. The calculation results are compared with the experimentaldata by particle image velocimetry (PIV). Based on the analysis of the calculated results of velocityand pressure profiles in the chemical pump and experimentally observed phenomenon of ow impact,secondary ow and recirculation, some design improvements are proposed, which give suggestions on the optimal design and internal two-phase ow study of the chemical pump.
