EECP induced instant shear stress variation-experiment and math modeling

To study how the enhanced external counter pulsation (EECP) performance in uencesthe arterial hemodynamic factors, and then evaluate its anti-atherogenesis effect, a kind of long-term EECP animal experiment was designed in vivo. Some basic hemodynamics factors including bloodflow rate and blood pressure are obtained inside the carotids of the experimental animals togetherwith the cardiogram and carotids geometrical data.At the same time, a theoretical three-dimensional model of pulsatile blood ow through a vessel withan asymmetric stenosis was developed based on the experimental results. To study the blood velocityvector, arterial wall shear stress distribution numerically. By comparing the experimental and numer-ical hemodynamics factors of post-EECP and the pre-EECP state, the hemodynamics mechanism ofhow the EECP performance in uences the propagation and generation of the atherosclerotic lesionsis analyzed.
