Numerical Simulation of Multi-Grain Structure and Prediction of Microsegregation in Binary Alloy under Isothermal Condition
The multi-grain structure and microsegregation during solidification of Ni-Cu binary alloy under isothermal condition are simulated and predicted with phase-field method. Two concentrations are selected as the computational initial conditions. The computed results indicate that the supersaturation plays a very important role on microsegregation. The comparison shows that the larger the supersaturation is, the higher the degree of microsegregation is. Furthermore, the larger the supersaturation is, the coarser the dendrite structure is and the higher the velocity of dendritic growth is. The dynamic reasons of this are also analyzed and discussed.
