Numerical Simulation of Filling Flow and Determination of the Process Parameter in Metal Injection Molding
The cause leading to defect in the filling process is basically qualified. But it is still by right of experience to control the defect. It is the trend of development that the method of numerical simulation is introduced to qualify the injection process parameters. In this paper, based on the equation of the rheology, the mathematic model used to describe the course of filling is created by the momentum equation, the consecutive equation and the heat transferring equation. The numerical simulation for the filling flow is realized by the software of MoldFlow by which the process parameters are determined. It was shown that it was unanimous between the parameters from the numerical simulation and the process parameters obtained by the experiments which indicated that the numerical simulation could instruct the factual process.
