Finite element analysis of continuous equal channel angular pressing process
In this paper, we report a new method to produce ultrafine-grained (UFG) materials with large size—continuous equal channel angular pressing (CECAP). It combines equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) with continuous extrusion forming, and solves the problem that the length of UFG material produced by ECAP is limited. Also this method has great importance in expanding the commercial use of UFG materials. In this paper a simulation study using the DEFORM3D commercial finite element code has been done to analyze the flow of metal, the strain and temperature change of the metal in the process of CECAP. Also we compare the process of deformation in different parameters such as extrusion wheel velocity and friction condition to provide the theory for the practice of CECAP.
