Effect of partial substitution of Nb by Al on Nb-poor Finemet type alloys
Series of Nb-poor Finemet type alloys were fabricated by substitution of Nb by Al. The magnetic properties as well as the microstructure were studied by using impedance analyzer and X-ray diffraction. Results show that the Al concent exerted a distinct effect on microstructure and thus resulting in the variation in real permeability value and relaxation frequency. The moderate substitution of Nb by Al (I.e. 0.5 at.%) is effective on improving the initial permeability amplitude and decreasing the relaxation frequency, and the relaxation frequency increases again with more Al concent, all these can be explained by the role of Nb in annealing process and the the solubility of Al in amorphous matrix and nancrystallized grains.
