Effects of Slight Re Addition on a Fe-25Mn-6Si-5Cr Shape Memory Alloy
Slight amounts of Rhenium (Re) were added into the Fe-25Mn-6Si-5Cr shape memory alloy. The crystal structure, shape memory effect and thermo-mechanical training of these alloys were investigated. Experimental results show that both ε martensite and γ austenite coexist at room temperature for the Fe-25Mn-6Si-5Cr--Re alloys. The Fe- 25Mn-6Si-5Cr-0.13Re alloy exhibit an excellent shape recovery of 95~97%. The 500~700℃ annealing can improve significantly the shape memory performance of Fe- 25Mn-6Si-5Cr--Re alloys. But the as-rolled and 800~900℃ Annealed specimens have a worse shape recovery. Thermo-mechanical training can also effectively raise the alloys shape memory performance. The Fe-25Mn-6Si-5Cr-0.13Re alloy exhibit a more striking efficacy of thermo-mechanical training than the Fe-25Mn-6Si-5Cr alloy.
