Development of the High Strengths Insulating Rods by GFRP

Flash accidents and mechanical failures in the insulator of porcelain types have been happen in Korea because of their high weights and leakage current. To solve these kinds of problems, the insulating rods have been considered. But it still difficult to manufacture the strong and safety insulating rods because the pin holes, which could be remained in the manufacturing process of FRP insulating rods, could decrease their mechanical properties. Moreover, the low productivity of manufacturing lines have remained big problems. To solve the problems, the advanced manufacturing system are developed and the Defect-free insulating rod was investigated using GFRP(Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics). Moreover, the ideal manufacturing condition of FRP insulating rod could be derived in this study.
