Investigation on the sintering behavior of SiC/Cu composites
SiC/Cu composite particles were prepared using a heterogeneous coating method, dry pressing and conventional sintered, the sintering temperature is 850℃, 900℃, 950℃, 1000℃, 1050℃ for 30 min, respectively. Compositions of the sintered compacts were detected by the X-ray diffraction, and SEM techniques were used to characterize the sintered samples. It was found that a core-shell structure was developed in the coated SiC/Cu composites particles. In the sintering process, SiC/Cu composites particles grew up by the way of spheroid style. We had presented a “spheriod-bridge-spheriod model for SiC/Cu powders sintering. Using this model, we could successfully explain the effect of Cu-Cu2O eutectic in the sintering process.
