Fabrication and characterization of Multi-walled carbon nanotubes encapsulated magnetic nanoparticles
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) encapsulated magnetic Fe、Co and Fe/Co nanoparticles were prepared by in-situ anodic arc discharging plasma evaporation of the Fe and Co powder filled graphite bar in He. The products were characterized by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and electron energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS). The magnetic properties of the products were characterized by vibration sample magnetometer (VSM). The experimental results show that the MWCNTs encapsulated magnetic nanoparticles have size with an average diameter of 25 nm, the thickness of the coated MWCNTs layer from 10 nm to 20 nm. The core magnetic nanoparticles composed of Fe、Co and Fe/Co. The saturated magnetization, remanence and coercivity Hc of the sample are 17.30 emu/g, 3.96 emu/g and 396 Oe respectively.
