Investigation of Concrete Properties Using Composite Material Rules

The aim of this study is to make use of waste tile particles and waste autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) particles as aggregate in concrete production. The concrete samples made of these materials were considered composite materials so that their E-moduli were calculated both experimentally and using composite models. On the concrete samples prepared using crushed rock I and II in the same classes, on the concrete samples produced using crushed tile aggregate (CTA) or crushed autoclaved aerated concrete aggregate (CAA) in ratios of 0.50 and 100 %, E-moduli were calculated both experimentally and by unit cell modules. E-moduli calculated making use of mathematical expression of these unit cell models were compared with E-moduli calculated experimentally in order to decide on the most appropriate model. Consequently Popovics Model gave the approximate results to the experimentally calculated E-moduli in the samples produced using CAA and Hirsch-Dougill Model in the samples produced using CTA.
