Simulation on Weld Metal Solidifying Microstructure with Cellular Automaton
Based upon the application situation of cellular automaton method to metal solidification, the solidification microstructures of weld metal have been simulated with the cellular automaton method in this paper. The simulated results can qualitatively reveal the mechanism of preferential orientation and competitive growth for weld metal grain. The results show that the cellular automaton method is a new and strong tool for simulating solidification microstructure with fully taking account of characteristics of weld metal.
