Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow during overlaying Cu alloy onto steel
This paper investigated the heat transfer in the base metal and bead during overlaying Hs201 Cu alloy onto the 35CrMnSiA base metal. The fluid flow of the partially melted base metal was analyzed, considering the stirring of the arc pressure, to require the distribution of the melted base metal in the welding pool. The results showed that the velocity field turned steady in a short time, the melted base metal flowed from the bottom of the puddle to the edges of overlay metal, and the molten liquidus Cu alloy entered the puddle from the top of the overlay metal. The velocity of the liquid phase was low at the bottom of the puddle, but high in the top of the overlay. Comparison showed that the calculated results agree with the experiments very well.
