Preliminary Study on Optimum Population of Xinjiang for Sustainable Development
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomic Region (XUAR) is located in an arid area, and its ecological environment is vulnerable. The ever-increasing population has created some serious environment problems. It is very important to probe the optimum population scale for the resources and protection of ecological environment. On the basis of P-E-R Model, we choosed two factors, namely economic development level and resources usage level, to calculate the optimum population of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomic Region, and provide a good quantitative foundation for sustainable development. The corresponding measures from the viewpoint of sustainable development are also put forward.
