Dynamic Analysis of Ecological Footprint of the Northern Ecotone——The Case Study of Wuchuan, P. R. C

Based on the EF (ecological footprint) model and relative data, we calculated EF and ecological capacity (EC) between 1949 and 2003 in Wuchuan County. The results showed that in the past 55 years, the change in both ecological surplus and EC was jivided into rapidly decreasing phase and slowly increasing phase. The main factors that influenced EF were population, standard of living and productivity. The ecological footprint method could not accurately reflect the influence of land use change on the environment.
