Channels with correlated error and Many-Body Physics
In the usual investigation of noisy communication, it is assumed that each qubit is decohered in an identical and independent fashion. However, recent investigations have started to address the case of correlated errors, where it has been conjectured that intriguing transition behaviour may occur. We inves tigate correlated noise that arises from interactions with an environment that is the thermal/groundstate of an many-body hamiltonian. The main advantage of our approach is that all the intuition of correlated many-body systems can be used to display analogous behaviour in channels with memory, inclu ding phase-transitions and other interesting effects.
