Using FDS to simulate the fire of HIPS and flame retardant HIPS

In this paper, via abundant Cone experiment datum of high impact polystyrene(HIPS) series, vacant specimen (HIPS-A 1#), HIPS with 15% decabromodiphenyl ather (DBDPO) flame retardant, and HIPS with 15% decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) flame retardant is selected as the research objects. Fire simulations for these three materials are carried out utilizing field model Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS).Consequently the burning behavior varieties of the materials which is treated by flame retardants are observed contrastively. The fireproofing securities are also simply educed through directly observations. Moreover, the flame resistant capabilities can be analyzed contrasting DBDPO with DBDPE.This task integrated fire model design with the flame resistant capability of the stuff for the first time.Otherwise, fire simulations for two different materials were successfully put up at the same time. Furthermore, the heat release rates (HRR) between both materials in sizes can be compared. These benefit the analysis of fire fatalness, and have important realism meaning for the research in fire resistant material. Up to the present there is no literature which carries through FDS fire simulation to the fire resistant material.
