Powering High Efficiency White LEDs for Portable Devices Camera Flash: a smart DC-DC Converter squeezes Lumens and reduces Wasted Power
Cell phones, PDAs and generally speaking all portable devices are approaching their limit for small sizes while the demand for functions to be included is still growing.An integrated camera for pictures and video calls is one of the most popular functions requested.The flash function supporting cameras is getting crucial in terms of performance and power consumption. This paper describes how the flash function is usually implemented and shows a complete design with the STCF02, a state of the art IC by STMicroelectronics that drives high power white LEDs.
