Laminated Bus Bars as a Platform for the Power Electronics Electric Drive
The Power Electronics industry has for years used copper for carrying, distributing and switching high current.Copper by itself has not changed, but the forms it takes have changed in customized ways for specific applications.In addition to conductive paths, copper is now used as a mounting platform or structural member for power components, when engineered into a Laminated Bus Bar.Due to increasing demand for higher power levels and faster switching speeds, significant challenges had to be overcome. Among the most difficult ones, lowering the impedance is the most prevalent.A laminated bus bar acts as the must mounting platform for the inverter and/or converter IGBT based switching devices. A laminated bus bar provides a direct, high conductivity DC Link with the lowest possible impedance in a IGBT-based switching circuit.This paper is motivated by the premise that Laminated Bus Bars are the MUST mounting platform for efficient, economical and best electrical Ⅰ mechanical performance in an electric drive power electronics environment.
