A SIMPLE AND PRACTICAL DATA REDUCTION METHOD FOR SINGLE-INCLINED HOT-WIRE MEASUREMENT
A simple and practical data reduction method for singleinclined hot-wire three-dimensional flow measurement is developed. The method solves velocity vector by separating it into magnitude, yaw angle, and pitch angle, and solve them independently. Velocity and angle calibration is required and the calibration data is fitted to curves, which curves are used to solve pitch angle and velocity magnitude in measurement. Yaw angle is acquired in advance directly from the measurement data based on angle characteristics of the inclined hot-wire. The method is compared to other two methods and conclusion is drawn that the presented method is simple and practical with high accuracy. Subsequently, results of a single-inclined hotwire measurement reduced by the presenzed method is compared with the result from a single-hole pressure probe. In the end, a measurement procedure is listed for reference.
