Smoke control in underground commercial building
Fire safety in underground buildings is different from that in ground buildings, there isnt special code for underground building, and the regulations in existing codes cant satisfy the project practice. Smoke movement and smoke control were simulated in a night club in an underground commercial building by using CFD software, with its areas of the fire zone and smoke zone exceeding the code regulation. Two smoke control cases were simulated, with extraction rate of 60 m3·h-1·m-2, the mechanical air supplement rates are 50% and 30% of the extraction rate, respectively. The smoke layer falls to 1.8 m in height after 17 min, the average temperature is 112 ℃ with mechanical air supplement rate of 50% of the extraction rate, the smoke layer falls to 1.1 m in height after 13 min, the average temperature is 110 ℃ with mechanical air supplement rate of 30% of the extraction rate. The case with mechanical air supplement rate of 50% of the extraction rate is adopted in project practice.
