Numerical Simulation of Reentry Object Melting by Aerodynamic Heating applied to Space Debris Removal
Results of numerical simulations with the use of a model to evaluate the effects of object characteristics and the melting patterns of space debris due to aerodynamic are presented. The debris configurations of cylinder and square column, and aluminum and titaniumn materials are discussed. The start-time for melting is related to the melting pattern, and the rate of mass loss is related to the material of the space debris.
