A Joint Synchronization Algorithm for OFDM System

In this paper, a joint synchronization algorithm is presented for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) system under multi-path fading channel. In the algorithm, the length of training sequence is a half of the conventional and the frame detection and fraction frequency offset (FFO) estimation maintain the performance of mean and variance. Moreover, a precise synchronization method based on known-information of training sequence is introduced to this joint algorithm. It is proved that this method will be not efficient until the carrier frequency offset (CFO) is corrected. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show this scheme exchanges the complexity increase of just about 5% over conventional timing algorithm for a large improvement of the precision of timing synchronization.Andthejointalgorithmreachesthe requirement of broadband wireless access system (BWA) based on OFDM.
