An Improved Chaotic Encryption Algorithm
After M.S.Baptista proposed a chaotic cryptosystem in 1998, many modified versions have been proposed. In the meantime, a number of attacks to it and its variants have been reported. Recently, some problems of the Baptista-type chaotic cryptosystems are presented in Phys. Lett.A332(2004) 368, together with a rectification of the authors own algorithm proposed in Phys. Lett. A307(2003) 22. Through studying these papers in detail, we found that the original defect of the latter is rectified, but the problems related to security and efficiency still remain unsolved. In this paper, some drawbacks of the former are pointed out. Then a modified algorithm is proposed to enhance general performance and security of the former. Numerical simulation and experiments show that the proposed algorithm works well.
