Psychology-based Navigation Method of a Virtual Pedestrian in 3D Virtual Environment
Behavior simulation of Pedestrian is a hot topic in many fields. Modeling navigation is very important for understandingbehaviorsofpedestrian.Psychology-based navigation method of a virtual pedestrian is presented in this paper by Gibsons theory of affordances. An affordance is invariance for environment and is a relation among space, time and action. A virtual pedestrian can perceive these affordances directly. Some semantic information is set up for special area in virtual environment, and the concept of navigation area is presented. Scene octree is used to simulate the perception of virtual pedestrian for space, and attention mechanism is introduced to enhance the reality of sense and perception. At last,a behavioral animation system of pedestrian is realized on PC.
