Packet Differentiation Services in 802.1le Multimedia Wireless Networks
The 802.11e MAC layer enhancement mechanism EDCF can provide the differential services to the packets for the multimedia applications. With the deployment of wireless network, some applications like video and voice need to be available in wireless networks. In this paper, we evaluate the performanceof videoandvoiceinthewirelessLAN heterogeneous and mobile IP heterogeneous networks. The endto-end delay and goodput in the different scenarios are compared. The simulation results show that the 802.11e EDCF can provide good service differentiation to the packets with different priority and mobile nodes can achieve almost the same performance as in static scenario within the proper priority.
