Gene Expression Programming for Intelligent Data Understanding: Survey and New Directions
Gene expression programming (GEP) is a new hybrid of genetic algorithms (GA) and genetic programming (GP). It has been demonstrated that GEP greatly surpasses the traditional tree-based GP for its simplicity, high efficiency,solution compactness and comprehensibility. This paper reviews the major works of GEP during the last four years, especially its application to intelligent data understanding (IDU), and then presents the new research directions of GEP.
