Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization for Security Constrained Economic Dispatch

This paper proposes a quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (QPSO) method for solving the economic dispatch (ED) problem in power systems. Many inequality constraint and equality constraint characteristics of the generate units and the system, such as the generation of each unit should between its minimum (PminGi) and maximum (PmaxGi), the total system generation includes load demand of the system and the transmission losses and so on, they all indicate certain nonlinear characteristics of the system. The proposed approach has been tested on a representative system: IEEE 30 bus, the experiments indicate that the QPSO algorithm is better than the PSO algorithm and Hopfield neural network.
