Multidisciplinary education for reliability engineers

In this paper, reliability engineering is defined as Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) and is concurrent with product development process. With technology advances products become complex. The FMA-focused reliability engineering is multidisciplinary and intersects with engineering, science, statistics, and management. The industrial need requires reliability engineers to possess a new set of skills in multidisciplinary areas. Reliability education institutes must recognize this need and adapt the multidisciplinary education for reliability engineers. A robustness model is introduced to illustrate various elements in the Multi-Disciplinary Education program for reliability engineers.
